First Friday Tomorrow Night- May 7th



The First Fridays website has been updated with exhibition info for tomorrow night's First Friday, and there's a new map of First Friday's venues here.

Also, Christina Newton of Curated Culture/First Fridays has compiled a list of additional events happening during tomorrow's First Friday (music and more) for Richmond.com here.

AND there are even more arts exhibitions with openings or receptions tomorrow night, slightly outside the realm of where you might usually spend your First Friday, but definitely worth a couple of drives around the city...

Linden Row Inn- "Reflecting and Collecting" (opening reception from 6-10 pm, live music and more- Linden Row Inn is included on the above map of First Fridays venues)

February's First Friday Closures and Upcoming Events


Check out the list of First Friday venues over at Curated Culture Commentary to see who will be open this evening.

One show in particular we have been looking forward to is Tin Salamunic's "Pictural Colloquy," which will open at the Richmond Public Library Feb. 12th. Check out Salamunic's blog (with lots of images of his work) here.




Other upcoming events (which may or may not be rescheduled): Talk20 at 1708, currently set to happen Wed. Feb. 10th at 6 PM. More info/free registration here.

Also, the Virginia Commission for the Arts Grant Assistance workshop scheduled to take place in Richmond is coming up Fri. Feb. 12th, 10 AM -12 PM, at Richmond Triangle Players- more info can be found on VCA's facebook and on their website. Just read the "Funding Guideline Changes for 2010-2011"- major bummer.


Hey, on a sidenote, is there any kind of workshop for artists (happening in Richmond) about record-keeping for taxes, or about tax information for artists in general? Something like this, but in RVA?

We are really excited about news from Curated Culture that they and Metro R Media are working on a new website- could this be THE arts events aggregator Richmond art lovers have been waiting for? We've got our fingers crossed!

This year a new installation to the First Fridays art walk is a music showcase that takes place in a patch of land brilliantly located in the heart of the festivities (304 N Adams St). This week performers include: Dave Watkins, Zac Hyrciak & the Junglebeats and From Here on Blue.
