Recent Pollak Prize winners honored today
Robert Watkins and deVeaux Riddick are being honored today during a ceremony at Sheltering Arms Hospital for the work they've done for the Bal du Bois.
More details (from a press release/email):
Sheltering Arms is honoring two of its biggest supporters and two of Richmond's biggest art icons tomorrow. Robert Watkins and deVeaux Riddick have been involved with Sheltering Arms' annual Bal du Bois fundraiser from its start in 1957. Every year they create the fantastic sets that make the event so unique among Richmond social events and fundraisers. Renderings of each of the sets they've created will be going on permanent display at the Sheltering Arms Hospital at Memorial Regional Medical Center in Mechanicsville. A dedication of the artwork will be held tomorrow, October 14, at noon, at MRMC.

12th Annual Theresa Pollak Prizes for Excellence in the Arts

Richmond magazine invites you to celebrate the artists whose words,
fine art, music, choreography, acting, directing, film and photography
enrich the cultural life of our regions.
Since 1998, readers have been asked to nominate artists to the panel of selectors,
made up of former honorees and arts leaders, who then choose the honorees for
recognition with the Pollak Prize for Excellence in the Arts at our awards ceremony in October.
Click here to nominate an arts innovator.
Nominations must be received by August 2, 2009.
